Good Luck for the arctic and the Arctic30

Dear friends, dear greenpeace-activists, dear colleges!

I wish you all the best. You are defenders of the arctic and very brave. Please try to develop love and compassion with all sentient beings. Take care and be aware that you will be free soon.

I think of you and you have a place in my heart.

Best wishes

Rolf Meckelholt from Germany

To Iain Rigers and all of you

Hello Iain. Keith from The Graveyard Shift at UPS in Exeter. Seems long days ago when we stumbled into the warehouse bleary eyed to unload the trailers at some unearthly hour.. I wrote to you (and in Russian, took me a couple of days to master the language) but can now write direct I hope.

Still in France growing veg. and looking after a few donkeys , sheep, ducks, chickens and cats plus 2 dogs. Not sure if  last latter landed so may repeat myself. Probably will anyway now I ve hit 65…

Do hope you are all OK in spirit and body and that you can get home soon. Open invite for a rest should you get the chance to visit here. Lodgings free as I keep an eye on a seldom used Gite and can use it whenever. I guess from other messages that you did get your boat done out and  sailing. Wonderful. Always remember seeing you by the boat shop(!!) and having  a look round your home in progress on the quayside.

Do wish you all good heart and decent food.and hope to hear from you. If not no worries, just  keep in mind  a rest for up to 5 or 6 of you here in our little Hamo.

Retired now and its lovely. Even more amazing they  are giving me a pension. Smile on Iain. Love and all the  best from us both.

Keep up my dear friends!!!!!

Every day since you have been captured I think of you and how we can realize that all of you can leave Russia and go home to you families and friends. I know that it was right what you did because I’m a Greenpeacer too………………………..

Stay strong!
With love from Ingrid Germany

Thank you for your work! It’s sad that the plan hasn’t been aborted but still, people like you make the difference!

MV ARCTIC SUNRISE/GPMARDIV

HELLO GALLANT PEOPLE OF THE GOOD SHIP ARCTIC SUNRISE. THIS MESSAGE WAS DELAYED DUE TO WEB ISSUES. HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR SCENARIO FOR THE DURATION AND HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY SUPPORTING ONLINE ENDEAVOURS TO SECURE YOUR RELEASE.
I WAS A VISITOR TO ARCTIC SUNRISE DURING HER BRIEF VISIT TO FOWEY IN CORNWALL EARLIER THIS YEAR. IT WAS NICE TO BE BACK ABOARD A GP SHIP AGAIN AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND HOSPITALITY.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO EXTEND MY THANKS AND WARM HEARTED GREETINGS TO ENG. IAN ROGERS FOR HIS KIND HOSPITALITY ABOARD ABACUS. “…HOPE YOU MADE IT TO PORTUGAL OKAY MATE, HOPE THE MAIN HELD OUT… WILL SEND YOU EMAIL SHORTLY, TRY AND REPLY EH?
ALTHOUGH MY THOUGHTS HAVE BEEN WITH EVERYONE ABOARD, I HAVE BEEN FOCUSING MY INTEREST UPON YOUR RO - COLIN . I AM INTRIGUED AS TO WHY HE WAS SINGLED OUT AS ONE WHO WAS NOT INITIALLY RELEASED.
DURING MY BRIEF SERVICE WITH GPMARDIV, MY SHIP - MV SIRIUS [CAPT. DAVE ENEVER COMMANDING] AND 98% OF COMPLEMENT WERE ‘ARRESTED’ IN SARDINIA, DURING THE ANTI-NUKE CAMPAIGN. INTERESTINGLY, THE ONLY TWO CREW MEMBERS NOT ARRESTED WERE THE SHIP’S CHIEF ENGINEER [RICK VAN HINTHEM] AND THE SHIP’S RO [ME]. IN THE SAME YEAR, MV GREENPEACE WAS RAMMED BY A USN WARSHIP. THE INCUMBENT SOVIET REGIME PUBLICLY CONDEMNED THE US ACT AS AN ACT OF - PIRACY[!]. SO ONE WONDERS WHETHER THE MOVE TO CAPITALISM HAS BENEFITED THE RUSSIAN NATION, AS HYPOCRITICALLY THEY ARE NOW ACCUSING GREENPEACE OF THE SAME ACT!
I WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS:
IN 1959 […THE YEAR OF MY BIRTH], THE RELEVANT GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD SIGNED A TREATY TO SECURE ANTARCTICA AS A WORLD PARK. THIS TREATY WAS DESIGNED TO SAFEGUARD THAT CONTINENT FROM EXPLOITATION… IN 1969 THE AMERICANS PLANTED THEIR FLAG ON THE MOON… THREE OR SO DECADES LATER, THE RUSSIANS DID THE SAME ON THE SEABED OF THE ARCTIC….
I WOULD ARGUE THAT THE DAYS OF PLANTING YOUR SYMBOL ON A PLOT OF LAND [BE THAT ABOVE OR BELOW SEA LEVEL], TO SECURE YOUR ‘RIGHTS’ ARE OVER. THE RUSSIANS HAVE NO RIGHT TO OWN THE SEABED OF THE ARCTIC ANY MORE THAN THE AMERICANS CLAIM TO THE MOON…
KEEP MAKING ARCTIC WAVES AND SERIOUSLY GOOD LUCK IN THE CONTINUATION OF YOUR FIGHT WITH BOTH THE RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES AND SHELL/GAZPROM. I WILL BE FOLLOWING AND SUPPORTING YOUR EVERY TURN OF EVENTS.
KIND REGARDS,
DARYL B WEST
EX-RO-GPMARDIV

Fingers crossed for you being home soon

Thank you for all you have done and for turning the horror of illegal imprisonment into a positive, speaking out about the Arctic and making Russia’s actions trigger support for you all.  You have made the time you have given to this cause count because the outrage people feel has kept the subject of protecting the Arctic in the news.  Congratulations and I hope you can go home soon and be with your families for Christmas.

All the best

Vicky

Hi , just to remind you , that you have not been forgotten. We are all praying for your safe return, in time for Christmas. Keep smiling! We wont forget & will carry on the fight until you are all back home.

Thanks for being so inspiring !

Hi everyone, I’ve already written to you in jail (and to some on facebook since you’ve been out).

I would just like to THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH PASSIONATE AND INSPIRING PEOPLE ! You’ve given me hope and faith again in people and activism, and working hard for one’s beliefs & what one thinks is right. STAY STRONG and keep up the great work, we’re all with you out there!

We’re so proud to be part of the same organization, proud that you went out there and put your freedom at risk for EVERYONE’s FUTURE ! We’ve demonstrated with our kids, and are busy translating, blogging and tweeting about you guys (@freethesunrise and freethearctic30.canablog.com), and will keep doing so until you’re all back home, all charges are dropped and the beautiful Arctic Sunrise is out there again, taking action all over the planet.

Take care, all of you, we’re NOT forgetting you guys. You’ve taken part in one of the most fantastic GP-actions ever and you, your family and friends should be SO PROUD ! Now EVERYONE knows about the state of the Arctic and the risks posed by oil drilling, your action has been more effective than years and years of campaigning !

We’ll keep at it until you’re really FREE and back home. Take care. Big hug to everyone, hoping to meet you all someday !

Niki

Thank you Arctic 30

Thank you for defending the Arctic for us all.  It seems all too many good people are imprisoned for non-violent fighting for important causes.  May right rule over wrong and you be freed (of all charges) to continue to defend the beautiful things of our world.

Letter from my mom to the A30 - written while A30 were still imprisoned

My dear children (no matter what your age is – we are all someone’s children after all),

I would like to congratulate you, from the bottom of my heart for what you are doing for all of us. It is very important to have the bravery and the courage to be in the front line for a cause beyond your personal life and your immediate surroundings. And it is obvious that you are both brave and courageous. This adversity you are going through must definitely be really tough.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it might be like not to have self-determination, not to have the freedom for trivial things, such as being able to eat when one wants to eat, take a walk, look at the night sky, enjoy the company of family and friends. But life has no meaning should we not stand for the things we love, the things that truly matter to us.

I’m not asking you to sacrifice yourselves for me, sitting in the safety of my couch; you’ve done that already by making such life decisions for yourselves. I’m asking you to hold on, to not fear to fear and to not for a moment believe that we have forgotten about you.

I would love to be there with you and hold you in my arms, one by one, and to show you thus all the love and respect that I feel about you. I am just limiting myself to sending you this message and assuring you that I, at least, will never forget what you did for me, my children and my grand-children – not now, not when this trial is over, not in the future while I still live.

With lots of love,

Mama Natasha mom&I

I thank God that all of you now are on release! And I thank you all for your courage and for what you do for our world!

Please hold on! And I will continue to pray that you soon will be at home! Love
